Title: The influence of set on the discriminability of letters
Authors: Terrenzio, Sonja (Gazan)
Keywords: Set (Psychology);Reading
Issue Date: 1973
Abstract: Four experiments were carried out to examine the effect of set on the discriminability of letters and words. Arrays were used containing two words and two nonwords, in which each word was identical in lettering to a nonword except for one letter. Word and nonword positions varied randomly for each card as did critical letter positions within words which distinguished each word from its matching nonword.
