This thesis examines representations of masculinity and authority in selected Stephen Kings works: On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, Bag of Bones, Misery, and The Tommyknockers. These texts reinscribe writing and authority as inherently male traits, while passivity and domesticity are associated with femininity.
