    Abstract

This thesis examines women's involvement in the moral and social reform movement under the umbrella of social purity, as it occurred in Fort William and Port Arthur, Ontario, between 1900-1930. I analyze the role of two key women's organizations, the West Algoma Local Council of Women (WALCW)
