    Abstract
This thesis examines representations of masculinity and authority in selected Stephen Kings works: On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, Bag of Bones, Misery, and The Tommyknockers. These texts reinscribe writing and authority as inherently male traits, while passivity and domesticity are associated with femininity. The thesis focused on King's representations of women and male authors in three different areas.
