The general theme of the work is to review the recent economic reforms in the COMECON Eastern Europe. Besides discussing the nature and inevitability of economic reforms in these countries, it attempts to show that contrary to the opinion of many writers on this subject, these economic reforms do not indicate the beginning of the end of socialism. It also attempts to draw certain conclusions for developing countries in general and to India in particular, in the light of recent reforms in the COMECON Eastern Europe.en_US
