An exploration of the impact of cultural food beliefs and attitudes on the acceptance of the dietary recommendations for type 2 diabetes
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to discover culturally shared local beliefs and attitudes towards foods that may impact the acceptance of dietary recommendations for the management of Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM) amongst Ojibwe (Anishinabek) in M'Chigeeng First Nation.
Culturally-appropriate grounded theory research using focus group discussions with Anishinabek community members with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus residing in M'Chigeen First Nation in the Manitoulin District Ontario.
