The child, the family, and society in Ontario, 1850-1900, according to four educational journals
Abstract
To understand the position of the child in Ontario between 1850 and 1900 is to know a great deal about the society in which he functioned. The status and role of the child was the most vital issue of the time. Social reformers assigned to him a key role in the future advancement of their society. If one generation of children could be inculcated with all the proper values, then present social evils would disappear.
